Stretch fabric

2022 Dec 29th

Stretch fabric is a type of fabric that is made with a blend of fibers that allows the fabric to stretch and return to its original shape. The amount of stretch in a fabric is usually indicated by the percentage of spandex or lycra fibers that are used in the blend. Stretch fabric with a higher percentage of spandex or lycra will have a greater amount of stretch and a more form-fitting quality, while fabric with a lower percentage of spandex will have less stretch and a looser fit. Fabric with 7-10% spandex will have a moderate amount of stretch, with 2-3% usually use in woven fabric, with15-22% use in sport fabric and swimming, making it suitable for a variety of applications. Some common uses for stretch fabric include clothing, such as leggings, yoga pants, and activewear, as well as upholstery, swimwear, and lingerie. Stretch fabric is often preferred for these applications because it allows for freedom of movement and a comfortable fit.
